Mike Leigh is my favourite british director. Meantime is set in east London in the thatcher years and like a lot of british films set in that time, it lies around unemployment. No other director gets so deep into the characters and protrays life as real as he does. The characters as complex as they would be if u tried to understand someone in less than 2 hours. The film never gives away the true thinking behind the mind which makes it so captivating. Excellent acting (Tim Roth, Phil Daniels, Gary Oldman, Jeff Robert), amazing dialog as u would usually find in a mike leigh film. Also watch All or Nothing which is similar and just as dope!
